IDEA launches a new healthcare logistics offering and signs its first contract
First contract in healthcare logistics
With the ambition to support healthcare facilities, particularly Territorial Hospital Groups (GHT), IDEA, an independent provider of industrial supply chain serives, launches a new tailored internal logistics offer and signs a first contract with the Clinique Santé Atlantique of the ELSAN Group. This new service, which combines process structuring, digitalisation of flows, and on-site operational logistics, will notably allow healthcare personnel to refocus on their core mission.
IDEA adapts its expertise and know-how from the industrial environment by launching the first offer of internal healthcare logistics. University hosptials, surgical clinics, or specialised hospital centres, all private or public healthcare facilities are concerned. The major challenge is to facilitate interoperability between different services, relying on existing digital tools, and then coordinating and carrying out all logistics activities.
In collaboration with each healthcare facility, which has it own structure and logistics flows, IDEA offers a tailored support methodology with various phases. These phases aim to strengthen processes and facilities a smooth start to the service :
- Immersion period within the facility to understand the environment and its issues.
- Co-construction of the logistics master plan to identify the right solutions.
- Implementation of flows with adapted support (investment, training, IT, ect.).
- IDEA coordinates and/or conducts all logistics operations.
This new tailored logistics offer is fully in line with IDEA's 2025 strategic plan, particularly on the "diversification" axis. By approaching the healthcare sector, IDEA aims to support Territorial Hospital Groups as priority, of which 135 are identified in France, to become the reference logistics partner in this sector. This offer can be deployed for 4 specific and identified customer needs : warehousing, distribution, block logistics, or floor logistics.
A first collaboration with the ELSAN Group
In January 2023, the Clinique Santé Atlantique of ELSAN Group chose IDEA to modify and coordinate the logistics of the operating rooms of the clinic in Saint-Herbain, Loire-Atlantique. As part of this project, IDEA is resposible for coordinating all the management of medical devices present in the operating rooms to reduce shortages. In-depth analysis of equipment movements and the creation of electronic service job sheets optimise stock management, soon to be piloted in the WMS deployed by IDEA.
Valérie Civel, Director of Technical Facilities at Clinique Santé Atlantique explains: « This partnership adresses an essential issue in the face of the changing healthcare sector. This project with IDEA is a new step forward for the quality of life at work for personnel, making their daily tasks easier with efficient IT tools. Automation and digitalisation of service job sheets for example make preparation more secure and simpler. In the current context, it seemed important to us to put the skills of nurses back at the heart of their profession and to be able to offer these missions to dedicated and trained logistics team. »
Digitalisation for greater responsiveness
IDEA offers digital solutions tailored to equipment logistics and with continuous traceability. Freeing up storage ensurong the reliability of preparations, automating or robotising certain operations (deliveries), pooling ressources (equipment or personnel), are all levers to work on to optimise operating costs and thus gain in responsiveness and productivity.
« This new offer, which is aimed at all healthcare facilities, emerged in 2020 when the Regional Health Agency (Agence Régionale de la Santé- ARS) requested IDEA to ensure and coordinate the supply of equipment to healthcare facilities in the Pays de la Loire region. Our logistics expertise, which consists of meeting the needs of structuring and optimising logistics flows, has demonstrated that it can be fully applied to the healthcare market. With this new service, we offer flow management by integrating our IT tools and we can also become the executor of traditional logistical tasks such as reception, stocking, picking, distribution, and storage in services » explains Nicolas Guilleret, Healthcare Logistics Project Manager at IDEA.
